EXCEL LONDON PUBLISHES FIRST SUSTAINABILITY REPORT
SHOWCASING CONTINUED ESG COMMITMENT

Carbon food labelling, fleet decarbonisation, ISO 27001 certification, industry-leading recycling targets and Hidden Disabilities partnership among key highlights of past 12 months

Carbon neutral event venue Excel London has today published its first sustainability report showcasing its continued commitment to sustainability and alignment with ADNEC Group’s wider ESG strategy.

Following the launch of its Sustainability Strategy in late 2023, the London venue has now released details of its achievements over the past 12 months, as well as its future goals, which centre on measuring and reducing its carbon footprint as part of its roadmap to becoming Net Zero.

Amongst its many highlights, projects include the introduction of carbon food labelling on all its menus, allowing clients and visitors to make better-informed choices, and the transition of its fleet of plant and equipment from diesel to electric or hybrid. The continued transition has already seen the saving of almost 79 tonnes of CO2e every year, as well as significant noise reduction.

Other key achievements include a new waste management strategy working with Bywaters, which commits to a 75% recycling rate by end of 2025 and year-on-year waste volume reductions. Meanwhile, it has also gained ISO 27001 certification, ensuring effective information security across the business and a partnership with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme to train all public-facing employees to better support visitors.

The report also recognises the strong contribution made from Excel’s partners, clients and stakeholders in contributing to its wider sustainability efforts.

Excel’s dedicated Sustainability Manager Natalie Sykes said: “Thank you to everyone at Excel London who has contributed to this report and the remarkable amount of work in delivering these initiatives. All departments have played a pivotal role in embedding our Sustainability Strategy across the business and it has been fantastic to see the collective effort in ‘Connecting Lives’ and harnessing the power of live events to deliver impact, innovation and joy.”

As part of the report, Excel are calling on event industry professionals to take part in its 2025 materiality assessment – helping to better inform the five pillars of its Sustainability Strategy.
